We Need YOUth: Children’s Inaugural Address Video Project
This January, President Obama will deliver his inaugural address, setting the tone and the agenda for the coming term. More than one-third of the U.S. population is under age 24; that's a lot of ideas and perspectives that should not be ignored in Washington, DC. That's why with your help, several national organizations are creating a Children’s Inaugural Address video to give voice to young people’s priorities and ideas. More

Give the ‘Gift of Giving’
Tis the season for giving and donating to your favorite charity's end-of-the year holiday drive. This is a time of year to appreciate our nation's rich history and tradition of charitable giving. Unfortunately, the tax policies that encourage individuals to give are at risk. We need your urgent help to tell Congress about how current tax laws on charitable giving help individuals and families in our communities. More

Young People + Volunteering = Bright Future
As of October 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports 7.9% unemployment rate in the United States. The figure is much higher, however, for young men and women. I am optimistic, though, about young adults who are spending their early 20’s volunteering through Teach for America, VISTA, City Year, and other service organizations like them. And I am proud of United Way’s role in helping idealistic young people find a way to serve, improve their skills and in some cases, earn money for college or graduate school. More
