United Way partnered with MTV and mtvU, the network’s 24-hour college channel, to host “Spring Fix,” an Alternative Spring Break, in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Fifty college students from across the United States traveled to New York and New Jersey to help rebuild communities devastated by the storm. “Spring Fix” kicked-off on Sunday, March 17 and culminated on Saturday, March 23 with a special concert at Six Flags Great Adventure. United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund

With leadership from United Way of New York City, United Ways along the Eastern Seaboard have established the United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund to address near-term and long-term recovery needs of communities most affected by the hurricane. Contributions to the Fund will be used by United Ways along the Eastern Seaboard to address recovery needs in communities that FEMA has declared disaster areas. We give our sincere thanks to United Way of New York City who will manage the regional fund.
