Our BIG THANKS today goes to our nation’s public officials. You dedicate countless hours in service advancing the common good. You stand up to represent the needs of all and make sure our communities flourish. Whether advocating to ensure every child has quality learning opportunities that will lead to family-sustaining jobs, or for everyone to have access to quality and affordable housing and healthcare - we can’t thank you enough.

An extra shout-out today goes to the public officials all over the country who champion 2-1-1, the easy to remember telephone number that connects people with community resources and volunteer opportunities. Over the years, many of our public officials have championed 2-1-1, both spreading awareness of the critical lifeline and helping to grow and sustain the call and referral resource. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, 2-1-1 has been an essential resource receiving more than 101,000 calls and 776,000 web visits from people seeking immediate relief and long-term recovery support on the Eastern Seaboard.

United Way appreciates all you do each day to strengthen communities and we look forward to continuing to work with you to advance the common good.
