As Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Vicki Lins leads the teams responsible for United Way’s global brand strategy, integrated marketing and strategic communications.
She is charged with increasing the relevance and reach of the ubiquitous United Way brand for the digital mobile age, including the development of advertising campaigns, media relations, thought leadership, consumer engagement, high-growth market segments and strategic alliances, including the famed NFL and United Way partnership.
Ms. Lins is an award-winning marketer with more than twenty five years of experience in the media, technology and telecom sectors who brings expertise in building and distinguishing brands, a strong track record of strategic market development and growth, and an in-depth understanding of the transformational impact of technology on media, advertising and consumer engagement. Most recently, she was executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Clear Channel Outdoor–North America where she lead the effort to transform out-of-home advertising into one of the most contemporary, relevant and effective mediums of the day. She was also a member of the executive committee and the global marketing council responsible for ensuring a strategic path forward that would position the company for success.
Prior to joining Clear Channel, she spent 15 years in the cable TV industry at Comcast and its advanced television consortium, Canoe Ventures, where she built a national marketing organization for local ad sales, launched the Comcast Spotlight brand, pioneered Video On Demand (VOD) advertising and developed a consumer brand for interactive TV. She also led marketing and communications for Adlink, where she repositioned the industry for exponential growth. Vicki began her career at AirTouch Cellular and GTE, predecessors of today’s Verizon.
Lins is passionate about women’s issues and oversees the United Way Women’s Leadership Council, the largest philanthropic organization of its kind in the world. Throughout her career she has mentored women both informally and in formal programs. Recognized as a “Woman To Watch” and one of the cable industry’s “Most Influential Women,” she has also been an active member of Women in Cable & Telecommunications where she served on the board and was a recipient of its prestigious Betsy Magness Leadership Fellowship.
Vicki holds a M.A. in Communication Management from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Commonwealth University Brandcenter, which earned the title of “The World’s Most Creative School.” She divides her time between Alexandria, VA, and Westchester County, NY, where she resides with her husband, young son and adopted shelter dog.
