Ellen King is Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Sun Life Financial. In this role, she oversees the Corporate and Investments practice group within the Law Department, which provides legal support on a wide variety of matters, including investment transactions, mergers & acquisitions, benefit plan issues, information technology contracting, and intellectual property matters.  
Ms. King has a particular expertise in insurance regulatory matters and has managed the regulatory approval process for all of Sun Life’s U.S. life company acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and restructurings since Sun Life became a public company in 2000. 
Ms. King joined Sun Life Financial in 1997 as a member of the litigation & employment practice group and has progressed since then through a number of roles of increasing responsibility, including service as the corporate secretary for Sun Life’s U.S. companies. 
Prior to joining Sun Life, Ms. King was an attorney with Palmer & Dodge in Boston. 
Ms. King received a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College and 
and a Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law.
